SV70363 is an AS568-363 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 6.475 in (164.47 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.895 in (175.13 mm). In service, this square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.
It resists many acids, chlorinated solvents, and petroleum oils and fuels. Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where low-molecular-weight organic acids or ketones and esters are present. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
Common environments for this compound include semiconductor equipment, aerospace, and high-temperature process equipment.
