568-376 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SH70376, this is an AS568-376 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 9.725 in (247.02 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.145 in (257.68 mm). The square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

It resists petroleum-based oils, greases and lubricants, and many alcohols. Buna-N (Nitrile) delivers the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and low compression set under sustained load. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to automotive brake fluid or polar solvents will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
