568-379 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SV70379 is an AS568-379 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 10.975 in (278.77 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 11.395 in (289.43 mm). This square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. Expect good resistance to petroleum oils and fuels, aggressive chemicals, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving amines or hot water and steam call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
