568-427 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SV70427, this is an AS568-427 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 4.725 in (120.02 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.275 in (133.99 mm). The square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. The material holds up against many acids, chlorinated solvents, and aggressive chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in semiconductor equipment, chemical processing, and aerospace.
