The SH70430 is an AS568-430 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 5.1 in (129.54 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.65 in (143.51 mm). This square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

The material holds up against many alcohols, greases and lubricants, and water. Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified for low compression set under sustained load and an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It is not the right choice where automotive brake fluid or polar solvents are present. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in construction equipment, fluid power, and agricultural equipment.
