568-436 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

APG stocks the SV70436, an AS568-436 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 5.85 in (148.59 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.4 in (162.56 mm). A square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, very low compression set at elevated temperature. This material stands up to aromatic hydrocarbons, petroleum oils and fuels, and chlorinated solvents. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or low-molecular-weight organic acids will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

Typical settings include automotive fuel systems, oil and gas, and high-temperature process equipment.
