568-439 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-439 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A built to an inside diameter of 6.475 in (164.47 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.025 in (178.44 mm), catalogued under part number SV70439. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is valued for very low compression set at elevated temperature and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. It resists engine and transmission fluids, petroleum oils and fuels, and many acids. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with amines or low-molecular-weight organic acids. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
