568-440 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SV70440 is an AS568-440 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 6.725 in (170.82 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.275 in (184.79 mm). This square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

This material stands up to chlorinated solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum oils and fuels. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) offers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, very low compression set at elevated temperature. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in ketones and esters or hot water and steam. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
