568-444 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-444 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 7.725 in (196.22 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 8.275 in (210.19 mm), catalogued under part number SV70444. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Viton® (FKM) is known for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. This material stands up to many acids, aggressive chemicals, and engine and transmission fluids. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where amines or hot water and steam are present. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
