Ordered as SV70446, this is an AS568-446 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 8.475 in (215.27 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.025 in (229.24 mm). The square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

The compound resists petroleum oils and fuels, many acids, and engine and transmission fluids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is specified for the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
