568-448 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SV70448, this is an AS568-448 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 9.475 in (240.67 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.025 in (254.64 mm). The square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

Expect good resistance to petroleum oils and fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, and many acids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and outstanding high-temperature capability. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving low-molecular-weight organic acids or amines call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
