568-449 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SH70449 is an AS568-449 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 9.975 in (253.37 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.525 in (267.34 mm). This square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

As a material, Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and low compression set under sustained load. This material stands up to hydraulic fluids, propane and butane, and many alcohols. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
