568-454 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-454 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A with an inside diameter of 12.475 in (316.87 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 13.025 in (330.84 mm), catalogued under part number SV70454. It presents a flat rectangular section that cannot roll or twist in its groove, making it a dependable static seal.

Viton® (FKM) offers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The compound resists petroleum oils and fuels, many acids, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where ketones and esters or amines are present. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

Typical settings include high-temperature process equipment, aerospace, and automotive fuel systems.
