568-457 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SV70457 is an AS568-457 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 13.975 in (354.97 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 14.525 in (368.94 mm). This square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. This material stands up to aromatic hydrocarbons, engine and transmission fluids, and chlorinated solvents. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or hot water and steam will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
