The SV70464 is an AS568-464 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 17.455 in (443.36 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 18.005 in (457.33 mm). This square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

The compound resists petroleum oils and fuels, aggressive chemicals, and many acids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is specified for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where hot water and steam or low-molecular-weight organic acids are present. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in high-temperature process equipment, oil and gas, and aerospace.
