This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-465 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A built to an inside diameter of 17.955 in (456.06 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 18.505 in (470.03 mm), catalogued under part number SH70465. It offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for reliable performance in both static and dynamic service, the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. The material holds up against propane and butane, greases and lubricants, and water. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). Applications involving strong acids or ozone and direct sunlight call for a different compound.
