This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-468 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 19.455 in (494.16 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 20.005 in (508.13 mm), catalogued under part number SH70468. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for low compression set under sustained load, reliable performance in both static and dynamic service. The material holds up against many alcohols, water, and greases and lubricants. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
