568-470 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SH70470 is an AS568-470 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 20.955 in (532.26 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 21.505 in (546.23 mm). This square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

As a material, Buna-N (Nitrile) offers low compression set under sustained load and the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. It resists many alcohols, greases and lubricants, and propane and butane. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Applications involving ketones or automotive brake fluid call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
