SV70472 is an AS568-472 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 22.94 in (582.68 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 23.49 in (596.65 mm). In service, this square-cut ring presents a flat rectangular section that cannot roll or twist in its groove, making it a dependable static seal.

The compound resists aromatic hydrocarbons, petroleum oils and fuels, and engine and transmission fluids. Viton® (FKM) is valued for the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and outstanding high-temperature capability. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving low-molecular-weight organic acids or hot water and steam call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
