It presents a flat rectangular section that cannot roll or twist in its groove, making it a dependable static seal.

It resists many alcohols, propane and butane, and greases and lubricants. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) offers the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer, strong abrasion and tear resistance.
