568-909 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Part number SH70909 is an AS568-909 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 0.706 in (17.93 mm), a cross section of 0.097 in (2.46 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.9 in (22.86 mm). A square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified here for economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs and most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. The compound resists propane and butane, petroleum-based oils, and greases and lubricants. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). It should not be specified for service in strong acids or automotive brake fluid. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
