5/8 SQUARE SILICONE 60 DUROMETER

APG stocks the 0294625, a red Silicone 60 Shore A Square-Cut Cord Stock measuring a cross section of 0.625 in (15.88 mm). A square-cut cord stock ships as continuous square-cut stock so a custom-length seal can be cut and spliced on site.

The compound resists dry heat, weathering, and many oxidizing chemicals. Silicone is specified for an exceptionally wide service temperature range and flexibility that holds at very low temperatures. Applications involving abrasive dynamic service or steam above its rated range call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
