.750 FLUOROELASTOMER SQ CORD

APG stocks the 0297750, a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A Square-Cut Cord Stock supplied with a cross section of 0.75 in (19.05 mm). A square-cut cord stock ships as continuous square-cut stock so a custom-length seal can be cut and spliced on site.

Viton® (FKM) offers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, very low compression set at elevated temperature. The material holds up against aggressive chemicals, many acids, and chlorinated solvents. Applications involving ketones and esters or low-molecular-weight organic acids call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in chemical processing, oil and gas, and aerospace.
