The spiral wound gasket alternates metal windings with a soft filler so the gasket recovers elastically through thermal and pressure cycling.

This material stands up to chemical attack, elevated temperature, and corrosion and oxidation. 304 Stainless Steel delivers long service life in demanding outdoor environments and a hygienic, cleanable surface suited to sanitary process lines. Exposure to chloride stress cracking in some grades or galvanic pairing with dissimilar metals will shorten service life.
