The spiral wound gasket alternates metal windings with a soft filler so the gasket recovers elastically through thermal and pressure cycling.

As a material, 304 Stainless Steel is specified for high mechanical strength and pressure capability, a hygienic, cleanable surface suited to sanitary process lines. The material holds up against elevated temperature, high pressure, and chemical attack. It is not the right choice where galvanic pairing with dissimilar metals or chloride stress cracking in some grades are present.
