As a material, 316L Stainless Steel is valued for excellent corrosion resistance in washdown and marine service, high mechanical strength and pressure capability. It resists high pressure, salt water and washdown, and chemical attack. It should not be specified for service in galvanic pairing with dissimilar metals or chloride stress cracking in some grades.
