Aluminum offers good corrosion resistance in general industrial service and a high strength-to-weight ratio that eases handling of large sizes. Expect good resistance to weathering, many petroleum products, and general atmospheric corrosion. It should not be specified for service in prolonged salt water immersion or strong acids and alkalis.
