The o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.
It resists petroleum oils and fuels, many acids, and engine and transmission fluids. Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for very low compression set at elevated temperature and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments.
