The V5X22 is a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A O-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 22 mm (0.866 in), a cross section of 5 mm (0.197 in), and an outside diameter of 32 mm (1.26 in). This o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The material holds up against engine and transmission fluids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and many acids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service.
