An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Expect good resistance to aromatic hydrocarbons, petroleum oils and fuels, and engine and transmission fluids. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where amines or ketones and esters are present.

It sees regular use in high-temperature process equipment, aerospace, and automotive fuel systems.
