The V4X36 is a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 36 mm (1.417 in), a cross section of 4 mm (0.157 in), and an outside diameter of 44 mm (1.73 in). This o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. It resists petroleum oils and fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated solvents. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving low-molecular-weight organic acids or ketones and esters call for a different compound.
