An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

Expect good resistance to aggressive chemicals, engine and transmission fluids, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where hot water and steam or low-molecular-weight organic acids are present.
