This quad-ring is supplied in AS568-050 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A measuring an inside diameter of 4.239 in (107.67 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.379 in (136.63 mm), catalogued under part number HQ4050. It delivers lower friction and better sealing stability than a comparable round-section o-ring.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified here for strong abrasion and tear resistance, most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. This material stands up to hydraulic fluids, many alcohols, and propane and butane. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It should not be specified for service in ketones or polar solvents. The profile itself contributes resistance to the spiral twisting that defeats round-section rings and a parting line located away from the sealing surface.
