The HQ4157 is an AS568-157 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A quad profile Quad-Ring with an inside diameter of 4.487 in (113.97 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.693 in (119.2 mm). This quad-ring uses a four-lobed profile to create two sealing surfaces per side, reducing the squeeze needed to seal.

This material stands up to greases and lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and many alcohols. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) delivers reliable performance in both static and dynamic service, the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C) in continuous service. Exposure to automotive brake fluid or ozone and direct sunlight will shorten service life.
