The HQ4161 is an AS568-161 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A quad profile Quad-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 5.487 in (139.37 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.693 in (144.6 mm). This quad-ring uses a four-lobed profile to create two sealing surfaces per side, reducing the squeeze needed to seal.

As a material, Buna-N (Nitrile) is known for low compression set under sustained load and the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. Expect good resistance to greases and lubricants, propane and butane, and many alcohols. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C) in continuous service. Applications involving polar solvents or ketones call for a different compound.
