HQ4235 is an AS568-235 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A quad profile Quad-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 3.109 in (78.97 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.387 in (86.03 mm). In service, this quad-ring resists spiral failure in reciprocating service thanks to its multi-lobe geometry.

This material stands up to propane and butane, many alcohols, and petroleum-based oils. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) is widely chosen for strong abrasion and tear resistance, an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It should not be specified for service in ketones or automotive brake fluid.
