HQ4236 is an AS568-236 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A quad profile Quad-Ring built to an inside diameter of 3.234 in (82.14 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.512 in (89.2 mm). In service, this quad-ring provides a dual sealing band on each contact face for improved reliability.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. This material stands up to many alcohols, petroleum-based oils, and propane and butane. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where automotive brake fluid or ketones are present.

Common environments for this compound include hydraulic and pneumatic systems, general industrial maintenance, and automotive.
