HQ4236 is an AS568-236 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Quad-Ring built to an inside diameter of 3.234 in (82.14 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.512 in (89.2 mm). In service, this quad-ring provides a dual sealing band on each contact face for improved reliability.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. This material stands up to many alcohols, petroleum-based oils, and propane and butane. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where automotive brake fluid or ketones are present. The profile itself contributes two sealing bands per contact face rather than one and a parting line located away from the sealing surface.
