The HQ4243 is an AS568-243 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A quad profile Quad-Ring built to an inside diameter of 4.109 in (104.37 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.387 in (111.43 mm). This quad-ring uses a four-lobed profile to create two sealing surfaces per side, reducing the squeeze needed to seal.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified here for most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer, strong abrasion and tear resistance. It resists hydraulic fluids, water, and propane and butane. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Applications involving polar solvents or ozone and direct sunlight call for a different compound.
