This quad-ring is supplied in AS568-261 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A built to an inside diameter of 6.734 in (171.04 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.012 in (178.1 mm), catalogued under part number HQ4261. It delivers lower friction and better sealing stability than a comparable round-section o-ring.

The compound resists petroleum-based oils, greases and lubricants, and water. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified for strong abrasion and tear resistance, an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C) in continuous service. Exposure to automotive brake fluid or strong acids will shorten service life.
