Ordered as HQ4268, this is an AS568-268 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Quad-Ring built to an inside diameter of 8.484 in (215.49 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 8.762 in (222.55 mm). The quad-ring uses a four-lobed profile to create two sealing surfaces per side, reducing the squeeze needed to seal.

The compound resists many alcohols, propane and butane, and petroleum-based oils. Buna-N (Nitrile) offers low compression set under sustained load and an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Applications involving strong acids or ozone and direct sunlight call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes lower compressive load required to achieve a seal and a parting line located away from the sealing surface.
