The HQ4277 is an AS568-277 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Quad-Ring built to an inside diameter of 11.484 in (291.69 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 11.762 in (298.75 mm). This quad-ring seats in a standard o-ring gland while offering improved dynamic performance.

The material holds up against propane and butane, water, and petroleum-based oils. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) delivers reliable performance in both static and dynamic service, the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to polar solvents or strong acids will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes two sealing bands per contact face rather than one and lower compressive load required to achieve a seal.
