The HQ4337 is an AS568-337 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Quad-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 2.975 in (75.57 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.395 in (86.23 mm). This quad-ring resists spiral failure in reciprocating service thanks to its multi-lobe geometry.

As a material, Buna-N (Nitrile) is known for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and low compression set under sustained load. The material holds up against greases and lubricants, many alcohols, and propane and butane. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). The profile itself contributes two sealing bands per contact face rather than one and a parting line located away from the sealing surface.
