This quad-ring is supplied in AS568-452 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A quad profile supplied with an inside diameter of 11.475 in (291.47 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 12.025 in (305.44 mm), catalogued under part number HQ4452. It resists spiral failure in reciprocating service thanks to its multi-lobe geometry.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is widely chosen for low compression set under sustained load and the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. This material stands up to water, propane and butane, and many alcohols. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It should not be specified for service in automotive brake fluid or ketones.
