568-017 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

APG stocks the SH70017, an AS568-017 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.676 in (17.17 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.816 in (20.73 mm). A square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

The compound resists many alcohols, petroleum-based oils, and propane and butane. Buna-N (Nitrile) is widely chosen for reliable performance in both static and dynamic service, strong abrasion and tear resistance. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to polar solvents or ketones will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
