Part number SH70019 is an AS568-019 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 0.801 in (20.35 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.941 in (23.9 mm). A square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

As a material, Buna-N (Nitrile) is widely chosen for an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs, strong abrasion and tear resistance. The material holds up against petroleum-based oils, water, and greases and lubricants. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to automotive brake fluid or polar solvents will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
