568-032 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SH70032 is an AS568-032 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 1.864 in (47.35 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.004 in (50.9 mm). This square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

This material stands up to many alcohols, water, and propane and butane. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
