Ordered as SH70034, this is an AS568-034 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 2.114 in (53.7 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.254 in (57.25 mm). The square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

This material stands up to water, petroleum-based oils, and hydraulic fluids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) delivers strong abrasion and tear resistance, the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). It should not be specified for service in polar solvents or ketones. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
