SH70047 is an AS568-047 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 4.489 in (114.02 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.629 in (117.58 mm). In service, this square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

The compound resists greases and lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and water. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) is known for strong abrasion and tear resistance, an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). Applications involving strong acids or polar solvents call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
