568-152 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SH70152, this is an AS568-152 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 3.237 in (82.22 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.443 in (87.45 mm). The square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

Buna-N (Nitrile) delivers the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and low compression set under sustained load. It resists many alcohols, propane and butane, and water. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where strong acids or polar solvents are present. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
