SH70153 is an AS568-153 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 3.487 in (88.57 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.693 in (93.8 mm). In service, this square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is known for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer, strong abrasion and tear resistance. The compound resists water, many alcohols, and petroleum-based oils. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). It is not the right choice where strong acids or polar solvents are present. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
